Associazione Unione dei Discendenti di Italiani nel Mondo

The Union of Descendants of Italians Worldwide is a non-profit association with its registered office in Rome.

The association was established on July 4, 2025, against a backdrop of concern regarding the impact of Law 74/2025 on thousands of individuals of Italian descent. It originated from the need to defend the rights of those affected by this legislation—specifically, individuals whose recognition of Italian citizenship was cut short, as well as those already in Italy whose prospects for continuity and development were blocked or compromised.

Faced with this reality, the conviction emerged to unite, organize, and raise the profile of the community of Italian descent by creating an association capable of channeling proposals, promoting initiatives, and representing its interests before the relevant authorities.

The association was founded by Ailén Romina Acevedo and Marisa Leonor Barreto and benefits from the support and legal counsel of lawyer Domenico Ruoppolo—the association’s vice-president—regarding various actions and initiatives promoted by the organization.

To represent, inform, and support the descendants of Italians around the world, promoting the protection of their rights, the preservation of their cultural identity, and the strengthening of the historical, emotional, and community ties that bind them to Italy.

Through participation, cooperation, and institutional action, the association aims to build an active, supportive, and informed global community capable of raising the profile of people of Italian descent and contributing to the recognition of their belonging to the Italian community.
